What is blood pressure?

Blood pressure is simply a pressure created by the flow of blood in the arteries due to the contraction of your heart muscle.Blood pressure is measured by Systolic and Diastolic number.

Systolic number is the measurement taken when your heart muscles contract and push your blood into the arteries.In that time the blood creates a pressure on the wall of the arteries and this known as Systolic Pressure number.

Diastolic number is the measurement taken after  your heart pump the blood (this means the resting period of the heart muscle between two beats) is known Diastolic Pressure number.

There are two types of Blood Pressure:-

1.High blood pressure – High blood is also known as Hypertension.It happens when the force of the blood on the wall of your blood vessels is too high.

2.Low blood pressure –Low blood pressure is also known as hypotension. Low blood pressure means the pressure is lower than normal blood pressure.Low blood pressure is also a Life threatening.Cause of Low blood pressure can be due to several factors read the article till the end to know in details.

High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)

High blood pressure is a serious health problem.It is a silent health diseases,because it does not develop any symptoms in the early stage and can be easily ignored or can be remain unnoticed for longer time periods.It can worsen your health condition by damaging your blood vessels  and lead to kidney,liver,heart diseases.

Factors causing High blood pressure:-

  1. Smoking
  2. Taking salty diet
  3. Consuming  excess alcoholic drinks
  4. Overweight and Obesity
  5. Junk foods
  6. Not doing enough physical activities in daily life
  7. Old age
  8. Family History

Symptoms of High blood pressure:-

  1. Pain in your chest

1.It can damage your artery-

Naturally our artery is flexible,elastic and smooth that helps blood flow smoothly and carry oxygen properly.When there  high blood pressure it damage our inner lining cells of artery.when we eat foods the fat contained in the food after breakdown mix in our blood stream and it can accumulate in the damaged artery cells damaging its flexibility and making it difficult to transport oxygen rich blood flow that can lead to heart failure.

2.Coronary Heart Diseases:-

When the artery is narrowed by the deposition of fats on its wall and is damaged by the high blood pressure the heart have to work more to supply blood.When  the blood can’t flow freely there will be chest pain.
Due to high blood pressure your heart has to work more to pump blood and that will strain your heart muscle and will make it weak and it will not work effeciently.It may cause heart attack.

3.Brain Damage:-

Due to high blood pressure your artery will be damaged and artery will loose its natural flexibility that will restrict the proper blood flow to brain.If some parts of your brain doesn’t receive blood flow properly that means it will be deprived of oxygen and nutrients which is very much essential for the proper functioning of brain.It will stop working  and you may suffer from Stroke.

4.Kidney Failure:-

Due to high blood pressure the blood vessel in the kidney can be damaged and that will effect the filtration process of kidney and the kidney will not work effectively for filtration and that will cause the accumulation of certain harmful substances and will cause the kidney failure.

5.Lost Vision:-

Due to high blood pressure the blood vessels in the eye can be damaged and the optic nerve in your eye can be ruptured cause internal bleeding and damaging it.Hence,lost of vision.

1.Leafy vegetables-

Green leafy vegetables are full of nutrients they had many health benifits.Green leafy vegetables are rich in potassium and thus help kidney to get rid of excess sodium.This can lower your blood pressure.

2.Fish-

Fish are the great source of lean protein and rich in omega 3 fatty acid that help to reduce blood pressure and  inflammation.

Banana are the rich source of potassium and including then in your daily diet will increase the potassium level in your body and reduce the sodium level which is very much helpful for reducing High blood pressure.

1.Brain-

A proper oxygen rich blood flow is very important for our brain to function properly.If due to low blood pressure the blood flow to the brain is restricted then the brain cell will be deprived of oxygen and you may experience Fainting .Moreover,if the low blood pressure health condition is for long time then it can damage the brain cells also.That will cause serious health problem.

2.Eye damage-

Due to low blood pressure the optic nerve in our eye will be deprived of certain nutrients and oxygen that will give you a experience of dizziness but if the Low blood pressure health condition is over long period of time it can damage your vision.

3.Kidney Failure-

The function of kidney is to filter the blood and excrete the waste matter from the body.If the blood pressure is low then there will be less amount of blood flowing through the filters and kidney will be unable to filter properly.In that case kidney has to work more for filtration process and that can lead to kidney failure.

1.Foods that are rich in Vitamin B 12-

Deficiency of Vitamin B in your body can cause anemia and will cause low blood pressure.Eat vitamin B 12 rich food such as beef,pork,eggs,cereals and diary products to raise up your blood pressure

2.Foods that are rich in folate-

Eating folate rich food will raise up your blood pressure.Foods such as organ meat,Beans and asparagus ,leafy green vegetables and nuts are rich in folate.

3.Salty foods-

Eating  salty foods will help you to raise up your blood pressure because salt help to hold water in our body which is known as water retention .You can eat Cottage cheese,Canned soup and Olives.

4.Caffeine-

Drinking coffee or tea will raise up your blood pressure by increasing your heart pumping rate.
